There are a number of advantages and disadvantages for the electrical industry that have stemmed from the integration of the global economy. These include increased competition and product safety recalls. From time to time, we come across the disadvantages of the global economy and one of those has been the increasing prevalence of poor quality materials – something that we always watch out for. It’s a constant reminder that when dealing with electrical and data works – quality matters. A recent example is a product recall by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for all ‘INFINITY’ and ‘OLSENT’ branded Infinity TPS (flat and flexible) and orange round low voltage electrical cables. The wiring was imported from China by an Australian businesswoman, and the company has since been liquidated. The issue that caused the product recall is the potential for the insulation to become prematurely brittle with age and if disturbed, could break and expose the live wiring, resulting in possible electric shock or fires.

The best way to address this issue if you are concerned is to contact the responsible builder or electrical contractor to confirm whether infinity cable was used. We’ve included an image of the attached of the cable in issue for your own peace of mind.

Our electrical contractors are licensed to inspect your wiring, however it’s important to note that the inspection costs are not recoverable from suppliers if infinity cable was not installed or if the cable supplier can’t be determined.

The wiring was available at Mitre 10, Masters and other leading retailers, so there are implications if anybody has completed do-it-yourself electrical work as the wiring was commonly purchased from retailers. Hi there.
 
I’m sure you’d agree with me that Christmas is the time of year that’s all about giving and helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
As you may have seen, i just released a video last week about recent our donation for Movember, and we felt so good about it we wanted to make a contribution for Christmas as well.
Here at Trojan we support B1G1 because they get great bang for their buck, so we have provided water, food, lighting, internet and more to help people out. But enough about us, we also wanted to let you get in on the giving so I thought, what can we do?
 
I figure that you’re probably not desperate for a gift, and because 2015 is our 20th birthday, we’ll no doubt be having some celebrations with you. So, i thought that instead, we would give you the chance to get some help for YOUR favourite cause.
 
If you’re keen, email me back with the name of your charity organisation in sydney. We will then pull a suggestion (or maybe two) out of a hat, and provide an electrician for free for about half a day or so to help them out with any jobs they need doing. If they happen to decline, we’ll just pull out another name, but i figure that most charities would have a list of things which they’d do if they could afford it, things that they just never get around to.

Hi and welcome to summer!
 
As you are no doubt aware, Movember was all about “changing the face of Mens’ Health by raising awareness as well as money. Over the last couple of months I have not only changed my face, I have also improved my physical health by shedding a whopping 15kg.
 
This year, I was a bit late coming to the party so i decided to make it simple and contribute $5 for every job we logged during Movember….. that included our projects all our little service jobs for electrical, data cabling, cctv, audio visual, fibre optics site audits – i even counted the free job we did for a charity in the city – double whammy!!
